Election Checklist – What You Need to Know:
- Eligibility Verification: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria to vote and stand for election. Check your membership status and confirm that you are a financial member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
- Understand the Positions: Familiarize yourself with the various council and zonal office positions available. This is your opportunity to have a say in who will lead our great institute into the future.
- Nomination Process: If you aspire to run for a position, familiarize yourself with the nomination guidelines. Ensure you submit your nomination forms before the deadline!
- Voter Registration: If you haven’t registered to vote, now is the time! Make sure your details are up-to-date and ready for the polling process.
- Engage and Experience: Participate in candidates’ debates, forums, and discussions. Get to know the candidates, their visions, and how they plan to contribute to the institute’s growth.
- Election Day Preparedness: Mark your calendars and prepare to cast your vote! Know the voting process to ensure a smooth experience on election day.

NIM ELECTS DR. UMAR MUSA MUSTAPHA, FNIM, AS 26TH PRESIDENT; OTHER PRINCIPAL OFFICERS.
The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) has elected Dr. Umar Musa Mustapha, FNIM, as its 26th President and Chairman of Council, following the successful completion of the tenure of the immediate past President, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (Rtd.), FNIM, fdc.
Dr. Mustapha, who until his election served as Deputy President of the Institute, is the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mentholatum Nigeria Limited and a former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the University of Ibadan.
Also elected as principal officers to steer the affairs of the Institute for the next one year are Professor Emmanuel Umana, Vice-Chancellor of Obong University, as Deputy President, and Lady Christie Adejoh, a distinguished management consultant, as National Treasurer.
A seasoned management professional, accomplished corporate executive and multidisciplinary technocrat, Dr. Mustapha brings to his new position over 40 years of extensive leadership experience, including more than three decades at chief executive and board levels. His professional expertise spans business management, finance, economic policy, engineering, manufacturing, energy, education and human capital development.
Over the years, he has distinguished himself in several strategic leadership positions across the public and private sectors. As Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the University of Ibadan, he provided leadership in institutional governance, policy reforms and financial restructuring. He has also served as Chairman of the Kano State Committee on Public-Private Partnerships, Council Member of Al-Qalam University, Katsina, and Chairman of the Manufacturing Sector Committee of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, among other notable appointments.
In the corporate sector, Dr. Mustapha has demonstrated expertise in business transformation and strategic management. As Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mentholatum Nigeria Limited, he spearheaded initiatives that significantly improved profitability, expanded market share and strengthened the company’s competitive position in West Africa. He previously served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Raleigh Nigeria Plc, where he led major operational reforms and business expansion initiatives. Read More>>>
